About Me

Dr. Howard Berkowitz is a psychiatrist in the Psychiatry Division at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Currently, he is also Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the SUNY Health and Sciences Center, adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at St. George's University School of Medicine. Previous to joining the Maimonides team, Dr. Berkowitz completed a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Kings County Hospital Center. Dr. Howard Berkowitz is extensively published in the field of psychiatry. He has given many invited lectures, and maintains active research in his specialty. Dr. Berkowitz has several professional memberships, such as the Society for Liaison Psychiatry, and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. Previously, he was a member of the American Psychosomatic Society. Dr. Berkowitz is the Chairman of the ECT Committee, and a member of both the Hospital Medical Ethics Committee, and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He was also an organizer of the Psychiatry Grand Rounds.
